Finally you can “appear offline” in Battle.net

At last Blizzard has added a feature to the Battle.net client that gamers have been asking for for ages, an “Appear Offline” feature.

The addition to the desktop application forms part of a revamp of Blizzard’s social features in version 1.9.1.39526 which has been delivered just in time for the launch of Destiny 2 on PC.

The revamp also features a new “Social” tab. Here players can join groups or simply converse with friends even if they are offline (or just pretending to be so they can grind that Hearthstone ladder). The group feature is really interesting though.

“Each Group can have multiple text and voice chat channels, and Group administrators have a variety of tools to help manage membership, send out invitation links, and more,” explained Blizzard.

If that sounds familiar to you don’t worry it sounds a lot like Discord to us as well.

El Blizz has also introduced gifting. Now you can click the “Shop” tab and send select items as a gift to a person on your friends list.

To celebrate gifting Blizzard is giving all players one Hearthstone Classic Pack.

Let’s be honest, some of these features have been a long time coming, especially the social features. The Battle.net application always felt a bit empty but maybe that feeling will change now that we’re being a bit more social.
