Parents who did not submit online applications for children going to grades one and/or eight next year Gauteng earlier this year will get their chance to do so in November.
The Gauteng Department of Education will open the late application period between 1st and 10th November, meaning parents have a limited period to apply and will have to be quick about it.
Early bird applications opened on 2nd May and closed on 12th June. Placement offers for pupils were sent between July and 20th October.
A total of 285 834 pupils who applied on time needed placement in schools. To date, a total of 222 378 (77%) have been placed. This figure is a sum total of 123 450 for Grade one and 98 928 for Grade eight pupils.
A total of 63 456 applicants still need to be placed, of which 35 865 have not submitted the relevant required documents to the schools. The Department said it has plans to ensure that all applicants that applied on time are placed and appealed to parents to submit documents as soon as possible.
No new applications will be accepted in January, the Department said.
