Set your sights on this 3D printed sniper rifle from Team Fortress 2

3D prints from Team Fortress 2 don’t pop up that often, which makes this sniper rifle design by Drew Roberts even more special.

While we have seen full size prints of the Sniper’s preferred weapon in the past, this version is a bit more clever when it comes to saving on the amount of filament used.

That’s because the design is based off of a length of pipe which acts as the barrel to which everything else is attached. Roberts picked up a 26.8 millimetre diameter pipe for $3 and built around it.

Well, that was a plan anyway. Roberts tells us that he messed up the measurements and was forced to print a barrel. If you plan on making your own, make sure you don’t make the same mistake.

Apart from that, the design took around four days to create in Fusion 360, with a further three days for the actual printing. Spray paint was then used to finish it off the finished prop you can see in the gallery below is 3.5 feet (1.06 metres) long.

Notice that there’s even a printed bullet which sits inside the chamber.

To make your own start with the files on MyMiniFactory and then find yourself a pipe to glue everything to.
