Impressive WhatsApp. In the time it took to tell our readers the service was out, it’s now been restored.
WhatsApp is down! We repeat, WhatsApp is down! This is not a drill! This is not a drill!
(Sorry, we’ve been playing Call Of Duty: WWII all morning. It may have had an effect on our mood).
Yes, one of the world’s most popular communication apps for smart devices doesn’t seem to be working at the moment. The news surfaced – as is the way with these things – on Twitter very recently and the #WhatsAppDown is now trending. Search for it and you’ll see folk from all over the globe are busy complaining about this state of affairs – and not all of their comments are what you’d call sanitary.
We did a quick check over at downdetector.co.za and at the time of this writing WhatsApp’s problem has been confirmed. According to the site, the app’s problems started at 10Am local time.
There’s no word yet from WhatsApp’s Twitter account about what the problem could be or when normal service will be restored.
In the meantime, there are a ton of other chat apps available to folk who want to communicate with friends and loved ones electronically. And for those of you signed up to a particularly annoying WhatsApp group, you may be in for an extended break of sweet silence.
