Grab Brutal Legend for free right now

If you’ve ever wanted to experience Brutal Legend – Tim Schafer and DoubeFine’s love letter to heavy metal – but the idea of paying to do so irks you, rejoice!

Over on the Humble Bundle site there’s a Fall Sale (that would be autumn and for us it’s spring) in progress where you can pick up Brutal Legend for absolutely nothing. That’s right, it’s free. Gratis. Priceless (in a good way).

The catch is you have a limited time to take advantage of this offer. Initially offered for a two day window for free, at the the time of writing you have 1 day and roughly nine hours to pick up a copy.

If you have never heard of Brutal Legend, imagine rolling through an open world game that looks like it was based on all the heavy metal album covers of the 1980s. You play legendary roadie, Eddie Riggs (played brilliantly by Jack Black) who is transported to the age of metal and finds it’s held in the grasp of an evil demon name Lord Doviculus (Tim Curry).

With the help of some of the local headbangers, Eddie organises a tour of ultimate destruction to bring about an end to Doviculus’s reign and because doing so is totally ****ing awesome. The game even includes cameos from metal legends such as Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Halford, Lita Ford and the late Lemmy Kilmister.

Also, in a month where EA has been kicked up and down the street for sticking pay-to-win mechanics into two of its biggest releases, it’s kind of nice to remember a time when the publisher released cool stuff like this.
