Valkyria Chronicles 4, Gear.Club Unlimited & Battle Chef Brigade on the Nintendo Switch

Between yesterday and today Nintendo Switch owners have a lot to be excited about. Two games will have launched and one got an announcement trailer.

The big one is the announcement of Valkyria Chronicles 4. It will be coming to all three consoles in 2018 and it seems like a good fit for the Switch when playing on the go, given the turn-based nature of the combat.

While you wait for that there’s a game already on sale in the form of Battle Chef Brigade. This is a really bizarre mix of genres here: first you battle monsters in a side-scrolling beat-’em-up section, and then you cook those monsters up using a tile-matching puzzle segment.

You’ll be paying R130 for this odd experience on Steam with the Switch version being literally twice the price at R260. Ouch.

Finally there’s Gear.Club Unlimited which should be available later today. It looks like a fairly bog-standard racing game, but it is the only title here exclusive to the Switch.

The local price is a very steep R800 so we’ll have to wait and see if this one can justify its price. It does promise 400 races, four-player local splitscreen and the licences for a lot of manufactures.

Finally, while we’re rounding up news about the Nintendo Switch, we thought we’d mention a little surprise coming to htxt.africa in the last few days of November. Check back soon where we’ll show you how to make Switch accessories using nothing but LEGO.
