Vine co-founder says he’s working on a follow-up to Vine

Remember Vine? That wonderful app which allowed people six seconds of video recording time that turned its most creative users into internet celebrities.

Launched in 2012, Vine went from being some esoteric creation tool to an internet-wide phenomenon before being bought by Twitter in October of the same year. Last year it was unceremoniously shut down and to this day it’s still missed.

Well, if you’re one of the many people who would love to see Vine return, the app’s co-founder Dom Hoffman has some good news for you. Hoffman announced on Twitter (so, no hard feelings there apparently), that he’s working on a follow-up to Vine.

That’s it basically. There’s no word from Hoffman as to whether this new project will take the same shape as Vine – six-seconds and you’re done – or when he hopes to have it completed. All he would reveal in a series of successive tweets is that he’s funding it himself as an outside project so it doesn’t interfere with his day-to-day work.

This news fills us with the warm fuzzies. We too miss Vine and hope this project fills the void that Twitter left (damn you, Twitter) when it shut Vine down. I mean, come on, look at what we’re missing. Yeah, that’s right – you are getting NO work done today!
