The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild wins best game at The Game Awards

The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild has been crowned best game at this year’s Game Awards.

The superb Nintendo Switch launch title also picked up the gongs for best game direction and best action/adventure game at this year’s award ceremony, and overall was nominated in 12 categories.

The awards cap off a pretty successful year for Nintendo. While its brand new console got off to a relatively slow start at launch in March, it’s since gone on to garner critical acclaim thanks largely to a raft of fantastic titles released throughout the year, including Breath Of The Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Arms. It’s safe to say as Christmas approaches, the Switch has pretty much become a must-have item.

Nintendo wasn’t alone in its success at the Game Awards. Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice picked up the awards for best audio design, games for impact and best performance by an actor/actress in a game (Melina Juergens).

Cuphead, MDHR’s rock hard collection of boss battles, snagged the awards for best debut title from an indie studio, best indie game and best art direction. If there was a category for most controllers broken by players and most expletives hurled at a television screen, Cuphead would’ve probably won those as well.
