iStore kicks off South African iPhone battery replacement programme

Following the revelation that Apple had slowed down performance on iPhones with older batteries the firm began a battery replacement programme.

That programme has finally reached South Africa and iStore is now offering customers who might be affected by the problem.

This kicks off on 11th January (which is tomorrow) and iPhone owners will need to make a technical appointment online.

This is done through the local iStore website. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the cog icon marked Tech Support, log in and book your appointment.

You most definitely want to book an appointment online because for a limited time only iStore is waiving its R200 technical appointment fee, provided you book online.

Users will then need to head to the iStore they booked an appointment at and the handset will be assessed in store. Should your iPhone SE, 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 7 and 7Plus be found to be affected, it will be sent off for a battery replacement.

The battery replacement will cost you R429.78 including VAT and bookings will be available from the 11th January.
