A Viking Thing now has a new home

Earlier this week we had to report with something of a heavy heart that A Viking Thing was in a bit of a pickle.

A Viking Thing, if you didn’t know, is a festival to celebrate all things Nordic and horn-helmed, which includes traditional Viking games, weapons forging, a marketplace and many other fun activities.

The gathering was set to be held at Moor’s Castle in Muldersdrift this March, but this week we learned that the owners of the venue had basically pulled the plug. Naturally this led to much wailing and gnashing of teeth and event organisers Alter Egos rushed to implement damage control. Now they’ve announced that A Viking Thing has a brand new home – just 10kms away from its original venue.

“La Vue Lodge and Event Venue in Muldersdrift has stepped up with a full venue sponsorship for the fundraiser,” Alter Egos said in a statement. “‘A Viking Thing’ that had temporarily been left without a home when the original venue retracted its sponsorship.”

“Having La Vue step up so quickly was a huge relief,” said the Alter Egos team.

“We are overwhelmed and grateful beyond belief to our vendors, fans and sponsors – notably Sentient Security who have been sponsoring our event security for over 6 years, JM Event Services who run our sound, power and lighting and TLC Med who are our event medics – for their enthusiasm and support in making this event happen. All have reiterated their commitment to us despite the change of venue.”

So, start sharpening those horns and brewing that mead. A Viking Thing is back on!
