Netflix’s Dirty Money takes a harrowing look at corporate greed

The latest binge-worthy series from Netflix has no dramatic flare, no dragons and no need to dive into the mind of a serial killer. Instead Dirty Money looks at something a lot scarier – corporate greed.

The premise of the series is simple enough. Through six episodes the creators of Enron: The Smartest Guys In The Room take a look at the ills plaguing the global economy with interviews, news clips and opinion from experts.

The first episode takes a look at Volkswagen and the emissions scandal that rocked the German auto maker.

We don’t want to spoil it for you but the story behind Volkswagen’s defeat devices which fooled regulators into believing emission claims made by the company is perhaps the least egregious discovery made by litigators during the trials that followed the scandal.

Clocking in at around an hour an episode Dirty Money shouldn’t take you more than an afternoon to plough through and like most Netflix series you’ll find it really hard to close your browser.

The series also takes a look at the pay-day loan industry, the maple syrup industry in Canada, Martin Shkreli and Donald Trump.

If you love documentaries or simply want to know what really happens before scandalous news flood the headlines Dirty Money on Netflix should definitely be on your watch list.
