Play Overwatch for free this weekend

How’s your Valentine’s Day going? Have you received a lovely bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates? Have you made sure you have dinner reservations?

Or are you sat in traffic resenting all the smug couples in the world? Well, if the latter is the case, things could be worse. You could be in the position of not having a free game to play this weekend.

Yes, Blizzard has announced that for this weekend its asymmetrical FPS Overwatch is free to play. To be honest, we’re struggling with the notion that there are players out there that haven’t at least sampled Overwatch yet – this isn’t the first time Blizzard has offered the game for free for a limited time – but hey, you live and learn.

From 9PM (local time) this Friday until 10AM next Tuesday, Overwatch is free to play on PS4, Xbox One and PC –  PC owners, incidentally, will have to download the Battle.net client and sign up for an account. If, after a weekend of blasting, beating and healing your fellow players you fancy sticking with the game, you’ll keep all of the progress you made when you buy a copy of it.

Unfortunately Blizzard isn’t offering a discount on the game if you decide to open your wallet. Boo.
