3D Print of Samus Aran’s gunship is a perfect partner for Metroid amiibos

If you need something to add to your collection of Samus Aran and Metroid figurines, this fan print of the games’ gunship is the perfect choice.

Creator Jens Giesser tells us that his project started life as a ripped model of the trophy from a Super Smash Bros. game. While this was a good base to work off of, it needed a lot of alterations in Meshmixer to make it a solid print.

After around ten hours of work the ship was split into multiple parts both for easier printing, and to reduce the need to paint. If you have black and yellow filament, you’ll only need to add a few details such as the windscreen.

Giesser states that he did this with some paint pens after printing, a process that took around 25 hours to do in PLA, on an Ultimaker 3.

To make your own use the files which are available for free on Thingiverse. The version in the gallery below is 123 X 125 millimetres, and you can see how it scales up against some amiibos.

Funnily enough, the last 3D print from this game series that we covered was specifically for that Metroid amiibo – a replication of the opening shot of Super Metroid.
