Subset Games – the people who created the amazing game Faster Than Light (FTL) – are finally releasing their new game today: Into the Breach.

This turn-based strategy game has you piloting mechs to defeat giant monsters with a bit of help from a time-reversal mechanic. There’s also the randomisation elements and customisation that we’ve come to expect.

Overseas outlets with early access to the game have already started giving it high marks in their reviews, with 9s and even a perfect 10 from Digital Trends.

While today is the release day, the game is not yet available to buy. You’ll be able to purchase it from Steam, GOG and the Humble Bundle store from around 5 PM today.

The base price is $15, but we’ll hopefully see a launch discount (usually 10% for the first week) and a favourable local conversion starting from R159.

We’ll hopefully be playing the game soon to bring you our impressions either as a usual review or though our podcast. We also hope that there’s eventually DLC or a mod that adds skins to this game to make it look like Pacific Rim. It seems like such an obvious fit, especially considering the fact that Uprising is launching so soon.
