Sorry America, The International is moving to Canada this year

For the first time since 2011 The International (TI) Dota 2 tournament will not be held in Seattle, Washington.

Valve announced last night that this year TI will instead be held in Canada.

“For the first time ever, the battle for the Aegis of Champions will be waged on Canadian soil, as The International Dota 2 Championships invite the world’s top Dota teams to face off at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia,” said the Dota 2 developer.

Valve is moving the venue this year because the home of TI – the Key Arena in Seattle – is undergoing renovations.

The tournament will run from Monday 20th August through to Saturday 25th August and tickets to attend the event go on sale later this month.

Tickets are split into two batches: a Midweek ticket for CAD$125 which grants you access to the first four days of the tournament. Those looking to catch the finals can purchase the Finals ticket for CAD$250 which grants you access to the final two days of the event.

Tickets go on sale on Friday 23rd March (that’s next week) at 10AM PDT and then again at 10PM if you missed it. You can find the exact time tickets go on sale for your timezone with this tool.

These are only available through Ticketmaster in the great white north and traditionally they are sold out within a few minutes of them going on sale, so get in quick if you want to attend what is always a nail biting tournament.

The only question left to answer is how Valve will grow the prize pool this year since the introduction of Dota Plus which replaces the Battle Passes of yore.
