Hearthstone’s The Witchwood expansion card reveals kick off this evening

The first card set expansion for Hearthstone’s Year of the Raven will be The Witchwood and this evening Blizzard will reveal a few cards from the set.

At 11AM PDT (that’s around 8PM here in South Africa) game designer Peter Whalen and streamer Frodan will reveal a bulk of new cards.

The reveal is happening over on the PlayHearthstone Twitch channel so be sure to tune in to get a taste of all the new cards.

We already known that The Witchwood will feature an odd and even cost mechanic. The reason we know this is because Blizzard already revealed two Legendary cards that support this mechanic.

Baku the Mooneater is a 9-mana card with 7/8 stats that has the text “Start of the Game: If your deck has only odd-Cost cards, upgrade your Hero Power.”

Genn Greymane is a 6-mana card with 6/5 stats that has the text “Start of the game: If your deck has only even-Cost cards, your starting Hero Power costs (1).”

Both Baku and Genn’s effects last the entire game.

The Witchwood also introduces a new keyword – Echo. When played cards with this text will generate a copy that can be played at any other point in the point but copies disappear from your hand at the end of the turn.

We’re also hoping that Blizzard sheds light on Hagatha the Witch. This card was “revealed” during the announcement of The Witchwood and it appears to be a new Hero card for the Shaman class. You can catch a glimpse of the card in the video below and we’re itching to find out more about the card that was too over powered to make.
