Online registration for public schools in Gauteng for next year will open this coming Monday, 16th April.
Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi made the announcement yesterday, in which he also stated that the online applications process had benefited from some modernisation that should help things run more smoothly.
“It will take parents less than five minutes,” Lesufi said.
Lesufi said that the new applications system would allow parents more options in choosing the school they wished their children to attend. Parents could choose a school closer to their home or work and would not be forced into applying to schools based on their demographics and language.
“Each parent is allowed to apply five times,” said Lesufi. “Anyone who doesn’t have data must go to their nearest community library.”
Lesufi said that parents could also go to their nearest district office to apply or call the GDE call centre.[Source: eNCA]
