Casey Niestat has a new venture, this time with a focus on collaboration

When the calendar rolled over to January 2018 CNN shuttered Beme.

For those that aren’t aware Beme was the firm created by YouTuber Casey Niestat. Originally an app designed to give people a different, more immediate perspective on news and culture.

In 2016 CNN bought the app and later turned it into Beme News. This was CNN’s YouTube play that it hoped would expand its digital news business.

The venture failed at which point Niestat as well as co-founder Matt Hackett left the company.

Now after a 22 day absence from YouTube (for a creator that once made daily vlogs that is a long absence) Niestat has announced he is starting another venture but this time with a more collaborative approach to content creation.

“I love making movies, I love being around other creators, I love collaborating with other creators,” explains Niestat in his latest video embedded below.

The creator explains that he wanted a huge space in New York that invited collaboration and he found that in the form of Beme’s old offices on 368 Broadway.

Why did we give you the exact address well because that’s also the name of the new company – 368.

As to what the company will do and what its core business will be, in the words of Niestat himself, “I’ll figure that out later”. Hell, Niestat even tries to steer clear of calling it a company referring to it instead as a project.

The first vlog under the 368 banner will be released tomorrow (on Niestat’s channel) and if we’re honest we’re just excited to see more of Niestat’s film making prowess.

Here’s hoping CNN leaves this company alone.
