All aboard this 3D print of Fortnite’s Battle Bus

We’ve been seeing a lot of 3D prints from Fortnite lately, but they’ve taken the form of 1:1 scale weapons, but now we have an impressive scaled down recreation to look at.

Rob Pauza has made an incredibly detailed Battle Bus which won first place in Pinshape’s game design contest.

Modeling of the bus was done in LightWave 3D, requiring about 40 hours of work over three weeks.

Pauza tells us that printing then took 100 hours to complete, but admits that this could have been sped up if he wasn’t using the best quality settings on the printer. The individual pieces were joined together with simple epoxy.

Finishing and painting was an extremely detailed process using a mix of airbrushing, spray paint and even a black Sharpie to add some finer details. Drying time aside, this added another 15 hours to the project.

The bus itself measures in at 267 X 76 X 152 millimetres without the balloon. That is 242 millimetres tall on its own and is attached to the bus with flexible wire rope chosen thanks to its stiffness, which allows it to hold the balloon up.

To make your own Battle Bus start with the files available on Pinshape or Thingiverse, and make sure to watch the excellent accompanying video which will show you how it was made from start to finish.
