Build your own Neo Geo Mini with Raspberry Pi and an arcade stick

There’s rumours that a Neo Geo Mini will be coming out soon based on some leaked photos that cram a lot of classic games into a handheld arcade cabinet.

While we’re still waiting for more news on that, YouTube channel ETA PRIME has given us a great DIY alternative.

Without spilling over into parody territory yes, this is a Raspberry Pi build, but the form factor is the big selling point here.

The entire project is built into an arcade stick turning your emulation console into an all-in-one, which is what the Neo Geo Mini is looking to do, albeit in a different way.

A Raspberry Pi 3 is running everything and has been spliced into the arcade stick so that it can be connected to a display through an HDMI port in the case.

The Pi is running RetroPie with a theme so everything looks proper, and ETA PRIME even added in a Neo Geo Mini splash screen.

You can see how it was made and how it works in the video below, with links to all the components in the description should you want to make your own.

If you’re disappointed that this isn’t a tiny arcade cabinet, you could use the Raspberry Pi Zero to make one that’s only six centimetres tall.
