One of the most popular roguelikes in early-access right now, Dead Cells, has two pieces of exciting news that dropped recently.
Developer Motion Twin announced on Twitter that the game will be receiving a physical, retail release for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch which will be available in August of this year.
While the physical release may sound like one new announcement, that August release is the second part. Up until now we only had the nebulous “2018” date for the game in any form.
Right now we’re not sure if the console and PC releases will be staggered. Merge Games, who is handling publishing, has said that the physical versions will be released alongside the digital releases, so fingers are crossed that everyone to be able to play the game come August.
We're super-excited to be working with @MotionTwin to bring #DeadCells to #PS4 and #NintendoSwitch

If you just can’t wait until then you can buy the game right now. Dead Cells is currently $20 (R215 local price) on Steam as an early access offering.
We’ve been keeping an eye on the game ever since it initially launched, and there’s been a very consistent stream of new content to satisfy those players who get in early. Just two days ago the strangely named “Baguette Update” went live.
While the price of the PS4 and Switch physical editions have not been announced, Cheap Ass Gamer has dug it up together with the cover art for both.
Retail copies will apparently run for $30. A $10 increase over the digital edition isn’t too bad at all. Hopefully, they will be attainable all over the world.
Update: Price is $29.99 for Retail Copies.
