Mario Tennis Aces demo coming first June

The latest Nintendo Switch exclusive – Mario Tennis Aces – is set to launch on 22nd June, but you’ll be able to play before then, for free.

The Pre-launch Online Tournament will run from 1st to 3rd June, 18:00 to 23:59 PDT respectively. We’re not exactly sure why this is referred to as a tournament, as it’s closer to a demo.

We’re not sure of the exact format of the “tournament” right now, but online play will be available, along with rankings for those participating.

Playing the game early also gets you an outfit that unlocks in the full game – Mario’s classic overalls.

The demo will be available to download from 25th May and will feature Bowser, Mario, Peach, and Yoshi as playable characters.

There’s currently a landing page available for the event on Nintendo’s Japanese site. If you’re on Google Chrome, right click and select “Translate to English” so you can read it. It’s a bit jumbled but easy enough to understand.

This announcement also comes with a better look at the game’s Adventure Mode in a short 43-second video.

That’s all that’s available in English, however. If you don’t mind Japanese once again, there’s a sizeable, almost six-minute video available for you to dig into.
