With new TV series like Marvel’s Agent Carter, Quantico and The Crossing available on Showmax this month, you’d be forgiven for worrying where you’ll find the time to watch all this new content.

While you might know that you can access Showmax on your desktop via the website or on your smartphone using the Android and iOS apps, you might not know that Showmax has apps for another living-room gadget – your game console.

The Xbox One and Playstation 4 are more than just a way to play games. Native internet connectivity and digital storefronts give users the opportunity to use their console for other leisure-time activities such as watching movies after a day of gaming.

Showmax has applications for both the Xbox and Playstation, which are available to download for free. You will, however, need an active Showmax subscription to enjoy the content, so if you haven’t signed-up already, now might be a great time to take advantage of the 14-day free trial.

Before you download the application for your console, head to www.showmax.com and sign-up for a Showmax account using your email address. Make sure this email address is working, as all your account details will be sent here, and don’t forget to create a secure password.

Setting up Showmax on your Xbox One

Go to the Store tab on your Xbox One’s menu and open up a search for “Showmax”. Once you’ve found the app, install it.

When the installation is complete, sign into the app using the credentials you used to sign up for Showmax earlier.

You’re now ready to start enjoying the latest content from Showmax on your Xbox.

Setting up Showmax on your Playstation 4

Power on your Playstation 4 and navigate to the Playstation Store. Search for Showmax and install the application.

When the installation is complete, use the credentials you’ve created to log-in and enjoy the latest that Showmax has to offer.

For those without a game console, free Showmax apps are also available for Apple TV and Chromecast. Showmax is also accessible via connected DStv Exploras as well as supported smart TVs. Check out the full list of devices here »

And if you are on a budget, or your internet connection isn’t great, the Showmax apps also support bandwidth capping so you can control how much data you’re using to watch movies. Check out Showmax’s bandwidth calculator here.
