This Beat Saber track played with a Darth Maul staff is incredible

A while back we told you about a VR game called Beat Saber.

The developer of the game – Hyperbolic Magnetism – describes the game as a mashup between Guitar Hero and Fruit Ninja which sees players using controllers to destroy coloured blocks with lightsabers.

It’s a simple base but then again so was Guitar Hero.

The game is currently available as an Early Access Game through Steam for the low price of R130 (VR headset not included) and so far folks are impressed.

More impressive than the game, however, is what players are doing in it which is the subject of today’s blog.

YouTuber and Twitch streamer ragesaq (okay, enough sniggering) is playing the game in a rather novel way – strapping his controllers together to make something akin to Darth Maul’s ‘sabers.

It’s tricky to explain so just watch.

The controller is a custom build the YouTuber ordered from online store ProTube VR and the lighting we see is thanks to Augmented Reality streaming.

For those wondering, the song is a remix of The Force Theme done by Trap Nation and the Beat Saber track was created by a member of the community.

While Beat Saber is still in early access the developers say they hope to have the game leave that stage by 2018, at which point they may “raise the price after adding significant content.”

Might be worth picking this game up on the cheap then while you still can.
