Fractured Lands is a new battle royale with vehicle combat

If you’re not sick of the battle royale genre yet Fractured Lands is here to try and win you over with a post-apocalyptic setting and vehicle combat.

This FPS promises that customisable cars will be players’ most important weapons. Apart from the standard guns and blades you can strap to your car, you also see jump jets. We expect to see montages of these being used to Mario stomp enemies.

These cars can be upgraded with items found on the map, and they can act as an extension of your inventory, which adds a nice little fold into the item management that’s usually very important in battle royale games.

We’re a bit wary of this game. On top of burnout in this genre, the gameplay in the trailer looks very stilted. Hopefully, these are just issues with the incomplete version, because we’ve been hoping for more vehicle combat games and last year’s Road Redemption just didn’t do enough.

Fractured Lands is being developed by a new name in Unbroken Studios. We’ve been told that the 40+ person team includes talent that has worked on Battlefield, Call of Duty and Medal of Honor, so we have to imagine that the shooting will at least be solid.

If you’re interested enough to give the game a try, there will be closed betas going on during the weekends of 8th, 22nd and 29th June. These can be signed up for on the official website. It will also be launching onto Steam’s Early Access platform.
