John McAfee wants to run for President of the United States, again

John McAfee has announced to Twitter that he will be running for President of the United States in 2020.

The founder of the cybersecurity company McAfee (which is now owned by Intel) has been “underground” since mid-May after the Securities and Exchange Commission sent him a subpoena in his capacity as an executive at MGT Capital Investments, a bitcoin mining firm.

Despite being underground and presumably on the run from the SEC, McAfee “broke cover” as it were to issue the following tweet.

So McAfee plans to run in the elections again. He has done it once before in 2016 but we all know how that turned out.

However, McAfee himself doesn’t believe he could win a presidential race. “Don’t think that I have a chance of winning. I do not. But what truly changes America is not the president but the process of creating one,” he tweeted.

The meme king (we’ll explain in a second) went on to say that a presidential race will give him the chance to stand on the “world’s largest stage and talk to everyone as I did the last time, to tell the truth.”

What is that truth? Well, a quick gander at McAfee’s Twitter account will reveal – memes. Not just any memes though, memes about cryptocurrency.

To offer some sort of explanation, McAfee has issued a challenge to his fans to send him memes about cryptocurrency that star him. We can’t use anything other than the word strange to describe it.

There is a point to the influx of memes, McAfee has said he will put them up for public voting and the best ones will receive a prize. First place will receive one bitcoin while the three runners-up will receive two ethereum.

So presidential plans, cryptocurrency competitions and running from the SEC, we’d say it’s bizarre but it’s all just very John McAfee if we’re honest.
