Nintendo’s “up to 50%” eShop E3 sale kicks off

With many of the big E3 announcements now over, Nintendo is looking to keep the hype going with a sale offering discounts not usually seen on the eShop.

The announcement for this sale promises 40 titles across the Switch, 3DS and Wii U, but there’s more than that.

Aside from the big “up to 50 percent” promise, some big first party titles are included here. Splatoon 2 is 35 percent off, and Breath of the Wild carries a 25 percent discount.

Neither of them are 50 percent off despite being used in the advertising for the sale, but they are substantial discounts for those who have been waiting for them.

Some staff picks here are Rocket League (25 percent off), Darkest Dungeon (25 percent off) and Sine Mora Ex (50 percent off).

Another title that’s half off is Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, but we’re of the opinion that this is still too high a price for this title.

As far as we can tell FIFA 18 has the biggest discount at 67 percent off, which really messes with the whole theme here.

The full list of discounted titles are available here. The list is set to display Nintendo Switch titles by default, so remember to change the platform on the left-hand side if you’re looking for games on other consoles.

While we’ll take any discount we can get on pricey Switch games, we have to admit that we’re a bit underwhelmed by this sale. Aside from including more games, slight discounts on pre-orders for titles announced during E3 would have been a nice inclusion.
