The Fitbit Ace for kids lands in SA this week for R1 599

The Fitbit Ace lands in South Africa this week and it might be the motivational tool parents have been waiting for that will get kids moving more.

The wearable has been designed for kids aged eight and up. As with other Fitbit products you can customise step goals, sleep goals and garner encouragement by earning badges or completing challenges.

It’s very much a Fitbit but with a few tweaks for safety.

For one privacy is rather important so Fitbit is putting that power into the hands of parents.

Children won’t be able to create an account for themselves, only parents will be able to do that. Parents can also manage who their child connects with, who can see their activity and progress all through a Fitbit family account.

One thing that does seem to miss the mark is the reminder to move feature. While in an office or working environment getting up to walk about and move is easy enough, that might not be something a child can do every hour, especially in the classroom.

For kids who are active the Fitbit Ace seems like a great piece of kit primarily because it allows parents to see how active their kids are while protecting their privacy.

The Fitbit Ace lands in these stores this weekend with a recommended retail price of R1 599.
