Finally, five African artists announced for Comic Con Africa

After revealing a slew of international guest for Comic Con Africa later this year, we finally have word on local guests for the event.

In fact we received what can only be described as a wall of text this morning from Reed Exhibitions Africa, ReedPOP and VS Gaming regarding the locals that will be at Comic Con.

First up is Jason Masters who has worked as an artist for DC, Marvel and Dynamite Comics. The artist’s claim to fame was being selected by the legendary Warren Ellis to be the ongoing series artist for Dynamite’s James Bond comics. Masters’ latest project is the comic book Caster which stars hip-hop artist, actor and producer Common.

Then from Johannesburg is Sean Izaakse who works as an artist on Pathfinder comics. In the last two years Izaakse has worked on Marvel’s The Thunderbolts, Avengers and Deadpool.

All the way from Harare, Zimbabwe, we welcome Bill Masuku who debuted his comic Captain South Africa earlier this year. Masuku’s Razor-Man comic earned him the admiration of his home town and Captain South Africa hopes to address issues of social justice, inequality and discrimination.

Two more South Africans will joining the others at Comic Con Africa namely Warren Louw – a self taught animator that has gained considerable recognition for his highly detailed models – and Moray Rhoda who is the head of animation at CityVarsity Cape Town.

Comic Con Africa runs from the 14th – 16th September at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit & International Convention Centre.
