Mothergunship launches 17th July, demo still available

If you’ve been itching for a new roguelike, Mothergunship will be playable soon thanks to a recently announced 17th July release date for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

If this is your first time hearing about the game, know that it’s the next title from the same people who made Tower of Guns.

Mothergunship retains the first person format of the original, as well as a bit of the aesthethic, but much has changed, especially when it comes to weaponry.

As you’ll see in the trailer below, there’s a big focus on crafting ridiculous guns. Throughout your time playing you’ll be awarded gun parts which you can then stick together in anyway you like.

To prevent this system from spiralling out of control, there are a few limitations in place. The biggest one being the fact that every shot you take drains from a singular ammo pool.

You could go in with a hundred-barrel gun, but you’ll only be able to fire it once. There are other limitations such as the fact that guns cannot overlap and barrels must always point forwards, but it’s very much open to your imagination.

You can see some of the community’s crazier weapons on the official Mothergunship blog. These were created in the free demo – the Gun Crafting Range – which you can still play now to decide if you want to buy this title at launch.

You’ll be paying $24.99 regardless of platform and those on PC can even choose between Steam and the Humble Store when making their purchases. No local pricing is available right now.
