Kino-mo’s hologram tech headed to SA

Local firm Public Display Technologies (PDT) is bringing a rather unique product to South Africa – 3D holographic projection.

The technology is known as Hypervsn and was developed by British firm Kino-mo. Thanks to a partnership with Kino-mo, PDT is able to offer locals the technology.

“We are always looking at new technologies and solutions that deliver that “wow” factor in terms of campaign capabilities, usability and practical applications. Partnering with Kino-mo is a logical (and exciting) step forward, helping us deliver on our brand promise to support client ambitions through cutting-edge innovations,” PDT chief executive officer Cornel van Lingen said in a media statement.

What’s interesting to note is that PDT has a number of high-profile clients including Flight Centre, Continental Outdoor Media and Bidvest to name a few.

Whether or not any of PDT’s existing clients would implement a holographic projection is unclear but take a look at what the product is capable of and tell us, earnestly, that it’s not cool.

“Kino-mo is strongly committed to launch Hypervsn technology and grow its footprint in South Africa,” says Kino-mo co-founder, Art Stavenka.

“We are thrilled that PDT will be bringing their profound experience and leadership to our global partnership network,” added the co-founder.

As we said, it’s not clear if any firms will actually implement this technology given that it’s purely aesthetic, but then again, so is a projector just beaming a logo onto the floor.
