This free insurance product will notify you of ID fraud

Following the recent hacks, leaks and human error which left personal data of South Africans exposed or stolen many folks are understandably skittish.

With so much data out there it becomes trivial for criminals to execute crimes such as identity or credit fraud and policing the halls of the credit bureau 24/7 looking for signs of this fraud just isn’t viable.

Enter ThisIsMe, an identity verification firm that famously sought to improve the FICA process for businesses.

The firm has now launched FutureProtect which anybody can use to get free identity and credit alerts should their information be accessed or changed.

FutureProtect comes in four flavours: Basic, Standard, Pro and Plus. Basic is the free tier and it gives you ID check notifications, email breach alerts and credit change alerts.

Standard is the first paid tier and will cost you R99 per month. For your money you get everything in basic, monthly credit score notifications, a monthly credit report (this is described as “Lite” by ThisIsMe), R1 million Identity Warranty, R30 000 Identity Theft Insurance and R10 000 loss of funds cover.

That’s a decent price for not only insurance but peace of mind as well and there is that free option if you just want to make sure criminals aren’t trying to take loans out under your name.

If you’re interested in FutureProtect head to the ThisIsMe website for more information.
