The next Hearthstone expansion has been revealed and we will be heading into the lab of the greatest seven-drop Blizzard ever printed in Dr. Boom.

The expansion is The Boomsday Project and, from a video that somebody clearly didn’t set to private, we know the expansion will be about science and other disasters. Take a look at the video below.

First off, we miss Ben Brode.

But the important thing to note from this video is a new keyword- Magnetic.

If you play a card with Magnetic while you have a Mech in play you can fuse those two cards together. We saw Spider Bomb, a Rare Hunter mech minion with 2/2 stats and the Deathrattle destroy a random enemy minion.

This seems great for giving your mechs a bit more power on board while granting them extra abilities.

There is also a new spell type – Projects. These spells benefit both you and your opponent. The video tells us there are Research and Weapons projects but no word on what those are just yet as Peter Whalen was transformed into a chicken while in the Netherstorm.

Blizzard is also introducing a new mechanic its calling Omega. Cards like the neutral Epic minion Omega Defender with 2/6 stats and Taunt behave normally throughout the game but they get a bonus if you have ten mana crystals. Omega Defender, for instance, gets +10 Attack making it a four mana cost Taunt minion with 12/6 in stats.

Blizzard also teased a new Warrior Hero card you can see below before it revealed the Shaman Legendary – Electra Stormsurge. A three mana cost minion with 3/3 stats and the Battlecry: Your next spell this turn casts twice.

Hmmm, we wonder what this Hero card does.

There is also a bizarre Rogue legendary spell in Myra’s Unstable Element which draws the rest of your deck.

Blizzard says that it will host a livestream where it will reveal cards on 23rd July over on Twitch and The Boomsday Project will release on 7th August 2018.

We’ll be sure to update you regarding pricing for the expansion when we learn more.
