Override: Mech City Brawl lets four people pilot one robot Voltron-style

While games featuring mechs are inherently better than those that do not, the upcoming title Override: Mech City Brawl offers something a bit more interesting in four-player co-op where each person controls one limb of a robot.

Announced yesterday we thought this was just another 3D fighting game, albeit with mechs as the fighters. While that may still be the core of the gameplay, the aforementioned co-op as well as some other modes make it a bit more exciting.

The list of different play types include 1V1 and 2V2 fights, 4-player free-for-all, and a single player campaign. If you’re only interested in the co-op, it is worth noting that it supports two to four players, so you don’t stress if you can’t get enough people to fill each pilot seat in your mech.

Override: Mech City Brawl is set to launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on 4th December 2018.

There is a chance, however, to play before then. A closed beta is taking place between 10th and 12th August. To get in you can leave your details on the official website, and you’ll receive an email confirming the fact that you’ve made it into the beta.

We really hope Metageckon – the Mechagodzilla-looking mech – makes it into the beta, because he’s obviously the best character here.

After the beta, if you’re keen on spending money, there’s two ways to buy the game.

For $29.99 there’s the standard edition, and for $39.99 the “Super Charged Mega Edition” will also include the season pass, and a total of 32 character skins. Make sure to check your preferred stores for local pricing as none is available yet.

If you’re now all revved up about Voltron and large robots, here’s a reminder that a giant, official LEGO set of Voltron is launching soon.
