The Boomsday Project is pricey in SA, here’s how to save some cash

Yesterday we learned that the next Hearthstone expansion would transport players into the Netherstorm, more specifically Doctor Boom’s lab.

The Boomsday Project is set to release on 7th August and card packs can be pre-ordered right now but, unlike past expansion where I just keyed in credit card details, I hesitated this time around.

The reason for my hesitation is that there are now two bundles to choose from. One bundle contains 50 packs, a golden Legendary card and the Mecha-Jaraxxus card back. The second bundle contains all the goodies in the first bundle as well as an extra 30 packs and a new Warlock hero skin, Mecha-Jaraxxus.

These bundles are priced at €49.99 and €79.99 respectively through the in-game store and Battle.net which translates into R792.31 and R1 267.80 respectively at current exchange rates.

But, there is another way to get your hands on packs and you can get a small discount on the bundles listed above.

You’ll need to download the Hearthstone app for Android which clocks in at around 45MB initially before requiring a further 1.2GB download.

Once you’ve done that you can buy packs through the app with localised pricing. The 50 pack bundle will cost you R749.99 while the 80 pack bundle is available for R1 199.99.

It’s not much of a discount but it’s something, especially for those of use that have become accustomed to paying more for our digital hobbies.

The Boomsday Project releases on 7th August with a card reveal season kicking off on 23rd July.
