Adobe said to have full iPad version of Photoshop in the works

While Apple has strived to make its iPads capable of doing as much as a notebook can do, there are still a handful of things missing from the tablet. One is Adobe Photoshop, but that could be about to change according to a new report from Bloomberg.

The website’s sources say the software developer is planning to reveal the iPad compatible version of Photoshop at its annual MAX conference in October.

While not confirming when it would be revealed, chief product officer of Creative Cloud at Adobe, Scott Belsky, did note that a cross-platform iteration of Photoshop was in the works to Bloomberg.

Citing unnamed people closely connected to the project, the website adds that this upcoming version of Photoshop will be available sometime in 2019. They also stressed that development delays could also push back the rollout of the editing software to iPad users.

The move to bring photoshop to more users makes plenty of sense in the eyes of Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and Nico Grant.

The company shifted all its creative applications to the cloud in 2012, and moved to a subscription-based model that is reportedly set to double their earnings at the end of this fiscal year.

The porting of Photoshop to iPad also falls in line with Adobe’s new strategy, according to the Bloomberg pair.

Getting more mobile users and casual creatives to utilise its editing software, and it’s easy to see why placing it the hands of those that already using the iPad or iPad Pro for graphic design could achieve that.
