Nathan Fillion’s Uncharted fan film is great, hopefully the real thing is too

After years of people pointing out that Nathan Fillion looks just like Nathan Drake, he went ahead and starred in a short fan film based on the Uncharted games.

Yes in what is a very nice surprise that seemingly came out of nowhere, Fillion joined forces with director Allan Ungar to make a film just under 15 minutes long which is completely free to watch on YouTube.

Aside from the main character, the rest of the cast is also shockingly accurate. Stephen Lang plays Sully and Mircea Monroe shows up later as Elena.

Outside of looking the part – something that stretches to the look and feel of the video – the script was also true to the games. It’s clear that most of the people involved here are familiar with the source material, which we suppose is exactly what you’d expect from a fan film.

Unfortunately, as fantastic as this is, don’t expect Fillion to pop up in the official Uncharted movie that’s in the works.

Tom Holland will be at the centre of that one, playing a younger Drake as we saw in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.

And, not to insult Fillion, but age is a big factor here. Because no film can just be a standalone entry, it seems that stars need to be young enough to carry their own franchise for 10 to 12 years.

That doesn’t change the fact that this is a piece of media we’re glad to see and hopefully it can influence the upcoming film. There’s also an interesting story about how it came to be made, which apparently happened over a vegan dinner.
