170 Riversands Incubation Hub businesses to get affordable internet access

Startups and small-medium enterprises at the Riversands Incubation Hub will soon have access to broadband internet at vastly reduced rates.

This is thanks to a partnership between the incubation hub and Centurion-based firm Metrofibre Networx. The partnership will give the 170 businesses at the Riversands Incubation Hub access to broadband at a rate 50 percent more affordable than commercially available fibre services the entities said.

“In order to grow our economy we have to invest in the development of small businesses and entrepreneurs, but often the costs of operating a business can be prohibitive to these companies, which is why the role of organisations such as Riversands Incubation Hub are so important,” says head of wholesale at Metrofibre Networx, Gary Webster.

Metrofibre Networx operates its own open access fibre network which connects its customers to over 60 cloud, app, voice and internet service providers. Businesses at Riversands Incubation Hub will have access to all these services.

“This agreement helps us complete an important piece of the infrastructure puzzle,” says Riversands Incubation Hub chief executive officer Jenny Retief.

“Our current entrepreneurs benefit from unbelievably low pricing for data and voice, and this will make Riversands an attractive destination for digital content producers. The deal underlines Metrofibre Networx’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurs – we are pleased to welcome them aboard as a partner,” the CEO concluded.
