If your were planning on checking Facebook without being confronted by a strangely introspective socioeconomic question, well you’re out of luck.

As Facebook – and every other site – is want to do from time to time, it will ask certain users for their feedback when visiting.

Though, this time around, the question is a bit odd: do you agree or disagree with the statement that “Facebook is good for the world”?

After choosing one of five answers you’re greeted with a picture of a heart, a thank you, and the opportunity to provide more feedback and details about your previous choice.

While this question is odd on its own, it’s not entirely surprising given Facebook’s tumultuous past few months.

We’ve seen the Cambridge Analytica scandal, a £500 000 fine, security holes, widespread bugs and much more. And that’s just the bad news we know about and have been able to report upon, we’re sure there’s more that’s being kept quiet right now.

Even with this context we have to imagine that the meeting where this survey was decided on must have been a weird one. If we have to look on the positive side of things, maybe the people running Facebook are having to ask themselves some difficult questions about how they operate the business and the impact it has on the world.

Or it could just be another smokescreen to give the illusion of change. Either or really.
