Darksiders III Apocalypse Edition costs R7K+ in South Africa

Darksiders III is a game we never thought we’d get but, come November, we will be destroying the Seven Deadly Sins with Horsewoman of the Apocalypse – Fury.

The game’s pre-order season has been rather comical to say the least. At first Darksiders III was bundled with both Darksiders Warmastered Edition and Darksiders II Deathfinitive Edition for the ridiculously low price of R399 on Xbox One.

The game is now available for pre-order for R629 on Xbox One, R929 on PS4 and R769 on Steam which is more in line with what we’d expect from a major release.

There is also the Darksiders III Apocalypse Edition available which contains: four 10 – 11inch statues of Fury, Death, War and Vulgrim, a runic amulet, a steelbook (containing the game), a fabric wall scroll, an artbook and exclusive DLC.

It sounds great and as a Darksiders fan, I was fully prepared to pre-order this bundle. Or at least I was until I saw the price.

Local retailer AWX has made the Apocalypse Edition available for pre-order at the astronomical price of R7 680, but this is actually in line with international pricing.

THQ Nordic is selling the same bundle over on its site for €399.99, delivery to South Africa would cost you €45.99 which comes to a total of €445.98 or R7 028.27 at current exchange rates. At the time of writing AWX is the only retailer that has the item listed with a local price.

We’ll concede that some things are more expensive here in South Africa (like the base Darksiders III game on PS4 which is way more expensive than any other version) but in this instance you’re paying a little bit extra for the peace of mind that your Apocalypse Edition will arrive on time (delivery permitting of course) and without being probed by customs.

Of course, you could just wait for some plucky maker to recreate these statues for you to 3D print and save your money for something important, like more games.
