Rainbow 6 Siege content now in Ghost Recon Wildlands

Ghost Recon Wildlands is crossing over with Rainbow 6 Siege in an event known as Special Operation 2, which goes live today.

The narrative reasoning for this is a Siege operator known as Caveira has gone missing and is tracked to Bolivia. Operators Valkyrie and Twitch join forces with the Ghosts to track her down in a PVE mission called Archangel.

This isn’t the only new content coming to Wildlands, however, as Ubisoft has promised more than 100 new weapons and items.

You can see quite a bit of this new stuff in the release trailer below, but a blog post on the official Wildlands site, uploaded yesterday, gives you all the details. The other big additions are two new classes – Toxic and Surgeon – for the Ghost War PVP.

On the same site you’ll also find an in-house interview with a senior producer which ekes out a bit of extra information about Special Operation 2, how it works and how it came to be.

This isn’t the first time Wildlands has had other IPs injected into it by means of DLC. Special Operation 1 focused on Splinter Cell and a smaller update added the Predator as a target in a special event.

As all this extra content is free we only see it as a good thing, but Ubisoft really needs to cut down the titles of these Tom Clancy games. Just look at the ridiculous title of the YouTube trailer below, and that’s with the extra “Tom Clancy’s” removed from the official name of Siege.
