eKasi Tech Fest will give indie game devs a chance to pitch for incubation

On the back of the successful launch of locally developed indie game Semblance we have some good news to share with game developers.

The eKasi Tech Fest together with Maxum Digital will be giving indie game developers a chance to present their games to the event organisers and “ICT sector luminaries” for the chance to be incubated by Maxum Digital.

The organisation is located at the Tshimologong Precinct’s Digital Innovation Zone and provides business development support to digital startups in gaming, animation and virtual reality.

“Gaming, animation and virtual reality are emerging as key future employers of township youth. Our young people are proving every day that they have the creativity and the willingness to overcome the odds stacked against them to use ICT technologies to build that better life,” spokesperson for eKasi Tech Fest, Mpho Tladi said.

In the build up to the festival which happens from 18th – 20th October at  Dlamini Multipurpose Centre in Soweto, Maxum Digital will be hosting a series of talks on the last Thursday of every month.

The details of these talks aren’t clear but we’ve been in contact with the organisers to find out more. When we have those details we’ll be sure to share them with you.

This is a fantastic opportunity for local indie game developers and we’re excited to see what sort of games South African’s have been working on come October.
