More gaming on Amazon Fire products with the Steam Link app

The Steam Link app has brought full PC games to a variety of devices, with the latest tutorial we’ve found spreading it to the Amazon Fire products.

This comes from one of our recent favourites on YouTube in ETA Prime – a maker/tech-focused channel that alternates between reviews and tutorials for projects like this.

While the steps outlined in the embedded video below focus on the Amazon Fire Stick, it will work for any other products from Amazon running the software, which even includes certain TVs.

As the Steam Link app isn’t available to Amazon Fire products right now, to make things work here it will require downloading an APK from a source that isn’t the official Google Play store.

While this is something we usually strongly advise against for security reasons, we’re going to assume you know how to take precautions against such things if you’re looking at these kinds of workarounds.

If you’d rather not risk it, you could wait and hope that the app becomes available for Fire-enabled devices in the future. Alternatively you could always buy a Steam Link box, as they go for a couple of dollars during Steam Summer Sales.

That, however, defeats the point of adding more functionality to an already capable media devices with the Fire Stick, especially when someone may already own one or have it built into their existing TV.

If cheap multimedia devices aren’t your thing, we share a similar tutorial from ETA Prime, which involves the Steam Link app and the portable GPD XD gaming devices.
