Visit the Cape Town Science Centre for free on select days

To celebrate National Science week 2018, the Cape Town Science Centre has said it will waive the entrance fee on select days.

The public will be able to visit the Cape Town Science Centre for free on 29th July, 4th August and 5th August (all of which are weekends by the way) and get hands-on with more than 200 exhibits. This includes the Camera obscura – a room-sized pinhole camera.

“At the Cape Town Science Centre one of our goals is to spark an interest in science and invite Cape Town’s communities to join us on our Family Fun Days. As this is such a broad and a fascinating theme, we have partnered with other organisations to enhance the programme with a plethora of additional activities as we engage and create a platform to communicate science with the general public,” Cape Town Science Centre education manager MJ Schwartz said.

These “additional activities” take the form of workshops that will be happening over the three free-entrance days. There are coding workshops for children, hovercraft workshops and various shows for children and anybody else that is interested.

Workshop bookings need to be made upon arrival at Cape Town Science Centre and space is limited so head to the website to check if there is anything you or your children might be interested in.

The Cape Town Science Centre is located at 370B Main Road in Observatory and will be open from  09:00 – 16:00 4th August and 10:00 – 16:00 on 29th July and 5th August.
