Audi to debut 2019 e-tron supercar concept at Pebble Beach next month

When it comes to all-electric supercars, Audi is leading the charge (excuse the pun), and now the German carmaker has announced that its forthcoming 2019 e-tron concept vehicle will be debuted at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance next month in California.

The annual event normally plays host to some of the rarest vintage cars in the world, but Audi has something different planned by revealing its latest e-tron concept.

The vehicle is modelled on the R18 supercar that Audi has been deploying during the Le Mans race in recent years, utilising some of the same technology for the engine, as well as a similar low profile for the design.

While the company has not divulged what kind of battery-powered engine the 2019 e-tron will be sporting, we’re betting this upcoming supercar will boast quite the driving range, given the their pedigree in marathon races

Following the concept car’s debut in late August, Audi will be showcasing the real deal at an event in San Francisco on 17th September.

From there, interested drivers living in regions where the 2019 e-tron will be launched (not South Africa at present), can place a $1 000 (~R13 160) deposit to secure the option of configuring their vehicle to a desired specification.

Along with the e-tron, Audi will also have an all-electric SUV to showcase in September as well.
