Silicon Valley is saying “no thanks” to Alex Jones

Silicon Valley has seemingly had enough of Alex Jones as YouTube becomes the latest platform to ban the talking head from its platform.

This comes after news that Facebook, Spotify and Apple iTunes had removed any content owned by Jones earlier this week and at the weekend.

YouTube issued the ban because Jones violated its terms of service multiple times. The creator received a strike against his channel which banned him from live streaming. Not one to take the ban and think about what he’d done, Jones tried to circumvent the ban by live streaming on other channels.

YouTube learned of this and promptly terminated Jones’ accounts.

The platform is being rather clear about why Jones has been banned. One could have thrown a dart at any InfoWars video and found something problematic but it’s Jones’ refusal to follow the rules that earned him a YouTube ban.

Facebook’s take down of Jones’ pages earlier this week cited similar violations of its policies as a reason for removal.

“We believe in giving people a voice, but we also want everyone using Facebook to feel safe. It’s why we have Community Standards and remove anything that violates them, including hate speech that attacks or dehumanizes others. Earlier today, we removed four Pages belonging to Alex Jones for repeatedly posting content over the past several days that breaks those Community Standards,” Facebook said earlier this week.

As Mark Zuckerberg noted a few weeks back, removing content which might offend you is a slippery rope to start walking on. This is most likely why we’re seeing Jones being banned from platforms left and right, he’s now violated enough terms of service to warrant a ban.

This is not the last we’ll see of Jones though. Following the bans Jones took to Twitter where he streamed for three hours claiming InfoWars was the most censored show in the world and that he had been shadow banned for the last year and a half.

For now though the rasp of Jones’ voice is off of YouTube and his misinformation removed from Facebook.

As the young folks say, Alex Jones is cancelled, at least for now.
