Captain Disillusion spends 15 minutes explaining stairs, and it’s a great watch

Viral video buster Captain Disillusion has returned this week with a singular focus: the Escherian Stairwell.

This apparent odd piece of architecture garnered fame a while back for an impossible feat of engineering: walking up one side of the stairs would magically place you at the bottom of another flight on the opposite side.

While the original video tried to explain this as using a bunch of bunk explanations, the simple answer is that it was a lot of clever editing used to create a trick that is impossible to do in the real world, well, until we invent wormholes.

As clever editing is Captain Disillusion’s forte, he tackled the problem with a 15-minute video (embedded below) that not only matches up with his amazing quality, but goes even further with a lot of custom animation.

If you think recreating and animating a stairwell from an old video is too much work, you must not have watched this channel before.

Oh, and we can’t wait to watch the Back Hole Chronicles.

Even if you’re subscribed to Captain Disillusion, you may have missed some great content around him that popped up a few months ago.

He was a guest on the H3H3 Podcast, appearing out of makeup and out of character to talk about his life and how he came to be the premiere video producer on the platform.

While you can watch the full podcast right here, you may not have two hours to spare on this Monday morning.

Instead we suggest some snippets from the highlights channel. There’s a 10 minute one focusing on making his videos and the story of how he and his family escaped the USSR. The latter gets our enthusiastic suggestion if you only have time to watch one right now.
