Full details for Fak’ugesi 2018 emerge

One of our favourite local events of the year is the Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival, thanks to its unique blend of art, music and videogames with a distinctive African spin.

The event returns in 2018, having already started on 18th August, running all the way to 29th September.

Some of our favourite attractions at past editions has been a PCB pass that contains a choose your own adventure game, as well as the Market Hack which is where you need to be if you consider yourself a maker.

On the gaming side we’re going to see the launch of the Fak’ugesi Arcade concept, which is positioning itself as a platform for skills exchange and networking.

Together with Red Bull and Trace TV, Fak’ugesi Arcade will apparently be rolled out in 2019, so now is a good time to get in if you want to be a part of it.

This is just one of the many smaller events which make up this festival, and we’ve been given a list of the bigger items which you can read at your leisure below.

Make sure you visit the official site to get all the details you need to attend and take part.

This year the festival has the theme of “Tap Your Afro Source Code” and we see there’s even coding courses happening. After visiting for years now we can attend to the inclusiveness of this festival and how the organisers aim to teach those who can make it.

This makes it perfect for visitors of all ages and we hope to see you there.
