New LG Tone Platinum SE supports Google Assistant & Translate

IFA 2018 is fast approaching, and one company that normally gears up for the Berlin-based event is LG. The South Korean manufacturer has a few new accessories set for unveiling later this month, with the first being the LG Tone Platinum SE headsets.

What makes this headset particularly noteworthy, which sit around one’s neck, is the fact that they now tout Google Assistant and Google Translate functionality.

They are the first offering in LG’s Tone lineup to do so, with the wearer’s saying the usual “Ok Google” phrase to access the digital assistant hands-free.

The same phrase-based feature will also activate Google Translate, with LG promising quick and accurate real-time translation.

As far as the listening experience of the LG Tone Platinum SE is concerned, the company notes that the audio experience is akin to that of a high quality pair of in-ear headphones, thanks to a hybrid combination of balanced armature (power producing unit) and dynamic driver.

For now these are the only details that LG have revealed for the new Tone headsets, with more set to be revealed at IFA in the coming week.

As such, we’ll only find out the precise release date and pricing for the LG Tone Platinum SE when the event kicks off on 31st August.

With LG yet to confirm if any update to the V30+ smartphone will be debuted in Berlin this month, hopefully they’ll be more to come from the manufacturer apart from audio accessories.

This form factor isn’t particularly popular as we’ve previously reviewed the Zagg Flex Arc Wireless and found it to be a bit of a gimmick. Maybe the much larger LG can make it work better.
