EY has revealed the 15 women who will take part in the Entrepreneurial Winning Women programme in South Africa.

The programme takes place in 50 countries and with over 400 women taking part. The programme identifies female entrepreneurs whose businesses have potential to scale given the right support.

That support is vital according to EY’s Growth Barometer 2018 Diversity report. While female leaders are far more focussed on growth than their male counterparts (females target growth rates of 15 percent over 12 months compared to males who target growth rates of 5 percent), 52 percent of women-led companies say they have no access to external funding.

The Entrepreneurial Winning Women programme seeks to change this by helping more of these women-led businesses scale and become successful. From there the hope is that more women would be inspired by the success of their peers, inspiring more women to start businesses.

“The response has once again indicated the great business women we have in South Africa. We are proud to work alongside these women in expanding and strengthening their enterprises,” EY’s Growth Markets leader, Azim Omar said in a statement.

EY’s programme takes place throughout the year and entrepreneurs will take part in activities that focus on the latest business strategies and practices, identifying potential partners and much more.
